AfriCoast Energy, will now be responsible for all future renewable energy projects - particulary
wind and solar - while it will also play a key role in guiding AfriCoast Engineers' current

South Africa's online retail sales set to exceed R130bn this year

Online retail sales in South Africa grew by 35% in 2024 to R96-billion, representing 8% of total retail sales in the country during that year. Growth has continued so far this year at an annualised rate of 38%, and is set to exceed R130-billion by the end of this year and capture nearly 10% of the country’s total retail market. This is according to the 'Online Retail in South Africa 2025' report produced by technology market research firm World Wide Worx (WWWx).

Optix showcases solutions for enhanced driver safety

Volvo Trucks South Africa confirms serial production of Euro 6 trucks will start next year

Automotive company Volvo Trucks South Africa has confirmed it will start local serial production of Euro 6 FH long-haul trucks in the first quarter of next year. The company first introduced Euro 6 FH trucks to the local market in April, but has upgraded its semi-knocked down assembly facility, in Durban, to produce these low-emission and highly fuel efficient heavy-duty vehicles locally at higher volumes.

South Africa’s manufacturing production declines 0.7% in July

Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) has reported that manufacturing production decreased by 0.7% year-on-year in July. Stats SA industry statistics director Nicolai Claassen notes that seven of the ten manufacturing divisions recorded a decline in production, with the metals and machinery products division being the main negative contributor.
