SuperUser Account / Wednesday, October 29, 2025 / Categories: Industry News ATNS cites global shortage of flight procedure designers as key reason for operational challenges State-owned entity Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) has identified a shortage of skilled flight procedure designers as the primary challenge affecting the maintenance of South Africa’s air traffic procedures, acting CEO Matome Moholola said at a briefing, in Johannesburg, on October 29. “The reality is that we are given five years to maintain flight procedures in the country and we have not been able to comply with that requirement in the last five to ten years. It wasn’t out of a lack of trying. We have tried quite hard.
