Airlink buys two Embraer E190 airliners from Dutch company

South African domestic and regional airline Airlink has announced the purchase of two Embraer E190 smaller single-aisle airliners from TrueNoord, a Netherlands-based company. Although a specialist in regional aircraft, TrueNoord normally leases them, instead of selling them. However, this case is unusual in that Airlink has no intention of operating these two aircraft. Rather, their airframes will be used as a source of spare parts for the airline’s operating fleet of E190s, while their engines will provide the carrier with four spare powerplants.
