Renewable energy engineering firm AfiCoast Engineers SA has announced that a new company,
AfriCoast Energy, will now be responsible for all future renewable energy projects - particulary
wind and solar - while it will also play a key role in guiding AfriCoast Engineers' current
basket of renewable energy projects.

Grindrod still hunting for new CEO; confirms Transnet rail slot allocation

JSE-listed ports and logistics group Grindrod is still on the hunt for a new CEO following Xolani Mbambo’s June resignation. Speaking during the company’s financial results announcement for the six months ended June 30 on Friday, chairperson Cheryl Carolus said the company was working with a talent search specialist as it looked for a successor, both internally and externally.

Transport Minister Barbara Creecy has announced that 11 of the 25 private train operating companies (TOCs) that applied to operate routes on Transnet’s rail network have met the requirements to do so and will now enter into contract negotiations to enable them to gain access to the network and begin operating the routes. The announcement represents a significant step in opening South Africa’s freight rail network, which has hitherto been monopolised by State-owned Transnet, to third-party operators.

Seriti Power Community Trust invests R19m in early childhood development centres

The Seriti Power Community Trust has invested R19-million in early childhood development (ECD) infrastructure across Mpumalanga and the Free State. Currently, 543 learners are enrolled and supported by 31 trained ECD practitioners. Combined, the facilities can accommodate up to 750 children, providing early cognitive stimulation and structured learning environments that aim to improve school readiness, reduce dropout risk and foster holistic development in literacy, numeracy and socio-emotional skills.
