AfriCoast Energy, will now be responsible for all future renewable energy projects - particulary
wind and solar - while it will also play a key role in guiding AfriCoast Engineers' current
basket of renewable energy projects.

B20 South Africa energy task force urges big upscaling in energy transition financing

The B20 South Africa task force on energy has unveiled three recommendations that will be presented to the G20 government leaders when they gather for their yearly meeting in Johannesburg in November. The recommendations include mobilising energy transition finance at greater scale and speed, supporting industrialisation across the energy value chain, and unlocking investment in critical energy infrastructure.

Competition Commission releases first Cost of Living report

Expanding on the scope of its inaugural 'Essential Food Price Monitoring' (EFPM) report, launched in 2020, the Competition Commission has restructured the report into the ‘Cost of Living (COL)’ report, launched on September 4. The Commission notes that the COL report includes items beyond essential food to capture a more inclusive and representative view of household economic realities.

Blu Label’s TPC acquires additional interest in Cell C

JSE-listed Blu Label Unlimited Group subsidiary The Prepaid Company (TPC) has received conditional approval from the Competition Tribunal to acquire an additional 4.04% shareholding in Cell C from Cedar Cellular Investments 1. Following the implementation of this transaction, TPC's shareholding in Cell C will increase from 49.53% to 53.57%, establishing TPC as the controlling shareholder of Cell C.

DWS opens water resource rehabilitation guidelines for public input

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has embarked on the public consultations for its draft ‘Rehabilitation Management Guidelines (RMG) for Water Resources’. Interested stakeholders have until October 29 to provide input into the document aimed at avoiding, minimising and remedying water quality degradation of water resources such as rivers, dams, wetlands, estuaries, groundwater and dams and lakes.

Nampak extends Roux's term as CEO after successor resigns

JSE-listed packaging producer Nampak will extend Phil Roux's term as CEO until it is able to appoint a suitable successor. This follows the resignation of COO Andrew Hood, who was meant to succeed Roux as CEO with effect from October 1, due to personal family circumstances. "Andrew has made a significant contribution to the turnaround of Nampak during his tenure and the board would like to extend its sincere gratitude to him," Nampak's board states in a September 4 update to shareholders.
