This has been announced by Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Minister David Maynier. This publication was in compliance with sections 89 and 100 of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (Act no. 10 of 2004). “The NBSAP is the primary instrument for implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at a national level, setting out a country’s vision, priorities, targets, and actions for conserving and sustainably using biodiversity,” explained the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). “It determines a nation’s contribution toward global goals while reflecting its specific national circumstances, priorities and capabilities.” Read more

(A previous book had been published by the SKAO’s predecessor, the SKA Organisation, in 2015.) South Africa is hosting the SKA-Mid instrument, which will eventually have 197 dishes, incorporating the country’s own, existing, MeerKAT array, while Australia is hosting the SKA-Low instrument, which will eventually comprise 131 072 antennas. The SKA-Low released its first test image, captured using 1 024 antennas, in March last year. The SKA-Mid is expected to do the same later this year, using four dishes.
