Renewable energy engineering firm AfiCoast Engineers SA has announced that a new company,
AfriCoast Energy, will now be responsible for all future renewable energy projects - particulary
wind and solar - while it will also play a key role in guiding AfriCoast Engineers' current
basket of renewable energy projects.

Rand Water stations pumping at full load after temporary shutdown

Rand Water on Thursday reported that all stations are pumping at full load after an explosion of a motor connected to one of the pumps at Zuikerbosch water treatment plant on Tuesday led to the temporary shutdown of operations. In a previous statement released on Wednesday night, the water utility said that the explosion had a ripple effect and affected the entire Engine Room 4.

BMW Group records strong performance in South African market

Automotive company BMW Group achieved a “very strong” performance in the South African market last year, with the brand growing by 12% year-on-year; and leading the premium segment at 46.15%, “comfortably” outselling its two closest competitors combined. This was highlighted by BMW Group South Africa CEO Peter van Binsbergen, speaking at the company’s start-of-year media engagement, in Midrand, on January 28.

This follows Tuesday’s assessment of the progress made on the targets set out in the South African Automotive Masterplan 2035 (SAAM 2035).
