Renewable energy engineering firm AfiCoast Engineers SA has announced that a new company,
AfriCoast Energy, will now be responsible for all future renewable energy projects - particulary
wind and solar - while it will also play a key role in guiding AfriCoast Engineers' current

Grindrod opens new Walvis Bay warehouse

Freight and logistics group Grindrod has opened a new warehouse in the Port of Walvis Bay, Namibia. Located near berths 7 and 8, the 4 000 m² facility is designed for cargo movement via conveyor, with linkages to both rail and road transport systems.

Auto industry set to develop an EV-specific training qualification

South Africa’s automotive industry is developing an Electromobility Occupational Skills Programme, which will be a nationally recognised qualification designed to equip technicians with the skills to service and maintain electric and hybrid vehicles. The qualification process development is being led by the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA), in collaboration with the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) and other industry stakeholders.

JSE-listed pharmaceutical company Aspen will receive €25-million, or about R500-million, on December 1, in full and final settlement of a contractual dispute. Optasia raises R6.5bn in IPO

AI-powered financial technology (fintech) company Optasia has closed its initial public offering (IPO) of more than 342-million shares at a price of R19 each for a total of R6.5-billion, or about $375-million. The offer generated significant interest in South Africa and internationally and was multiple times oversubscribed, the company says.
