Renewable energy engineering firm AfiCoast Engineers SA has announced that a new company,
AfriCoast Energy, will now be responsible for all future renewable energy projects - particulary
wind and solar - while it will also play a key role in guiding AfriCoast Engineers' current
basket of renewable energy projects.

Agriculture department warns farmers about the emerging El Niño event

The national Department of Agriculture (DoA) has issued an advisory on the looming 2026/27 El Niño climate event. This followed the latest Seasonal Climate Watch issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS), which confirmed that the El Niño was occurring and would continue throughout the upcoming summer season. “El Niño is a natural climate pattern that results in a shift in global atmospheric circulation,” explained the DoA. “In South Africa, the typical impacts of El Niño are lower-than-normal rainfall during summer coupled with high temperatures.”
